The next big event on the calendar is Valentines Day – Lezzet will be strewn with rose petals to mark the special lovers evening. It’s a perfect chance to enjoy a 5 course ‘shared sofra table’ contemporary Turkish meal for $75 per person, including a romantic Turkish cocktail on arrival, to get you in the mood – and our moody ambiance also sets the scene, as always.
The Little Vege Patch is at 2a Brighton Road just opposite us, at the end of Chapel Street, and it’s one of those locals I love to support. Pop in and see Fabian or Matt, they will inspire you, indulge you and motivate you to get in and grow your own, or you can even offer the gift of gardening to a friend. They have everything from vegetable growing crates to unusual heirloom seeds and even workshops to learn how to get started with your very first garden..
I’ve just been tasting a new addition to the wine list, with Baris, and we think you might like it – it’s one from Yering Station in the Yarra Valley – their 2011 ‘Village’ Pinot Noir is a real surprise – back to the halcyon days when their 2005 gave us a rich full well rounded Pinot. The winemakers say that it’s because of a cool dry start to the season which allowed a long ripening stage…. Well worth the wait!
It’s my favourite time of year – January is Tennis time in Melbourne! From Todd Woodbridge’s commentary to the internationals that fly in to compete with our best players, makes me proud to be a Melbournian. So pop in after the match and we will cool you off with a meze platter and a long cool glass of Efes Turkish Beer. Here’s a link to the Australian open’s official program APP. $2.99
